The tag line “From the heart for the heart” was inspired by cancer and heart disease that struck her family and continues to this day. Lisa-Ann’s grandmother, Anna, lived with her growing up on Long Island, New York. Some of their Sicilian family traditions were Sunday Sauce and Sinatra on A.M Oldies Radio. Back in the day when all that mattered was the taste of a meatball from the pot. In 1996, Lisa-Ann’s grandmother lost her life to breast cancer. She keeps her picture in her kitchen and her memory in her heart of cooking. Lisa-Ann’s grandfather, Lou, and his brothers passed away from heart disease. In 2004, she tested positive for the genetic mutation in BRCA2, the increased risk of breast and ovarian cancer.
